Amelia Bedelia walked by the baseball field.
아멜리아 베델리아는 야구장 옆을 걸었어요.
The Grizzlies team was there.
그리즐리 팀이 거기 있었죠.
"I never saw such gloomy faces," said Amelia Bedelia.

"Did something terrible happen?"

"We play the Tornados today," said Jimmy.

"I will explain it to you," said Tom.

"The idea of the game is to hit the ball and run to ease of the bases.

The other team tries to get the ball and tag you out," he said.

"That is easy enough," said Amelia Bedelia.

"Maybe we should warm her up at bat," said Bob.

"Good idea," said Tom.

"Amelia Bedelia, you hit the ball when Bob throws it.

"All right," she said.
"알았어," 그녀는 말했죠.
Bob pitched the ball, but Amelia Bedelia missed it.
밥이 공을 던졌지만, 아멜리아 베델리아는 공을 놓쳤어요.
"No, no," said Tom.
"아니요, 아니요," 톰이 말했어요.
"You must step in to meet the ball."
"공을 치려면 안으로 들어가야 해요."
Bob pitched the ball again.
밥은 다시 공을 던졌어요.
And Amelia Bedelia stepped in to meet it.
그리고 아멜리아 베델리아는 공을 치려고 안으로 들어갔죠.
"Ouch!" she said.

This game hurts!

The boys taught Amelia Bedelia how to bat.
아이들은 아멜리아 베델리아에게 어떻게 배팅을 하는지 가르쳐 주었죠.
Later she said, "All right, I'm warm up. In fact, I am hot."

"Then be here at two o'clock," said Jimmy.

"The game starts then."

Soon that uniform was just right.

"That's done," said Amelia Bedelia.
"다됐다," 아멜리아 베델리아는 말했습니다.
"Now what should I do until it is time to go?"
"이제 갈 시간까지 뭘 하지?"
Then she saw the cookie jar.
그리고 그녀는 쿠키 병을 봤어요.
"It's empty!" she said.
"비어있네!" 그녀는 말했죠.
"Well, I will soon fix that."
"음, 곧 만들어야겠는데."
"Amelia Bedelia put some of this and a bit of that into a bowl.
"아멜리아 베델리아는 그릇에 이것 조금 저것 조금 담았어요.
Amelia Bedelia mixed and she rolled.
아멜리아 베델리아는 섞고 돌돌 말았죠.
Soon her cookies were all baked.
곧 그녀의 쿠키가 모두 구워졌어요.
"There now," she said.

"That's done."

Amelia Bedelia looked at the clock.
아멜리아 베델리아는 시계를 봤어요.
"My goodness!" she said.

"I better be on my way."

Amelia Bedelia got her things and went to the ball park.
아멜리아 베델리아는 물건들을 가지고 야구장으로 갔어요.
"Here she is! Here's Amelia Bedelia!" called the Grizzlies.
"나왔어! 여기 아멜리아 베델리아가 왔어!" 그리즐리팀을 불렀죠.
"Then let's play ball," said the Tornados.
"그럼 게임 하죠," 토네이도가 말했습니다.
"The Tornados are up first," said Tom.
"토네이도가 먼저 해," 톰이 말했습니다.
"Amelia Bedelia, you stand here.
"아멜리아 베델리아, 당신은 여기 서있어요.
Catch the ball if it comes your way."
공이 당신한테 오면 공을 잡는 거에요."
"All right," she said.
"알았어," 그녀는 말했죠.
"Batter up!" called the pitcher.
"타자가 나왔어!" 투수를 불렀어요.
The pitcher threw the ball.
투수는 공을 던졌습니다.
The batter hit it.
타자는 공을 쳤습니다.
He ran to first base.
그는 일루로 뛰었습니다.
"Get the ball, Amelia Bedelia," yelled Tom.
"공을 가져와, 아멜리아 베델리아," 톰이 외쳤어요.
"Tag Jack before he gets to second base."
"그가 이루로 가기 전에 잭을 끝내."
"I must have a tag in here somewhere," said Amelia Bedelia.

She tagged Jack.

Another boy came up to bat. He hit the ball.

Then she ran and grabbed Dick.

"You sure do change your mind fast," she said.

Dick got back on first base. And the game went on.

The next batter missed the ball. The catcher threw the ball to the pitcher.

The pitcher missed it.

But Amelia Bedelia caught it!

"Hurray, Amelia Bedelia! Throw the ball!" shouted the boys.
"만세, 아멜리아 베델리아! 공을 던져!" 소년들이 외쳤어요.
"Dick is trying to steal second base?"
"딕은 이루로 몰래 가려고 했어?"
"Steal second base!" said Amelia Bedelia.
"이루를 훔쳐!" 아멜리아 베델리아가 말했어요.
"That's not a nice."
"그건 멋지자 않아."
Amelia Bedelia ran and picked up second base.
아멜리아 베델리아는 달려서 이루를 들어 올렸어요.
"It's all right now, fellows," she called.
"이제 괜찮아 소년들아," 그녀가 말했어요.
"Second base is safe."
"이루는 안전해."
"For gosh sake, Amelia Bedelia!" said the boys.
"이런, 아멜리아 베델리아!" 소년들이 말했어요.
"Put that back."
"도로 내려놔."
Amelia Bedelia looked puzzled.
아멜리아 베델리아가 의아하게 쳐다봤어요.
"But he was going to steal it," she said.
"하지만 그는 가려고 했어," 그녀가 말했어요.
"It's all right to steal bases," said Tom.
"이루로 가는 건 괜찮아," 톰이 말했어요.
"That is part of the game."
"그건 시합의 일부야."
"Oh," said Amelia Bedelia.
"오," 아멜리아 베델리아가 말했어요.
Finally the Tornados were out. They had made two runs.
마침내 토네이도가 나왔어요. 그들은 두 명을 뛰게 했어요.
It was the Grizzlies' turn at bat. Tom was first.

He struck out.

Then Jimmy had his turn.

He hit the ball hard. He made it to third base.

Now it was Bob's turn. He hit the ball.

"Pop fly," called the pitcher.

"I've got it."

Then it was Amelia Bedelia's turn.

"Come on, Amelia Bedelia" said Bob.

"Make a base hit so Jimmy can come in."
"베이스를 쳐서 지미가 들어 오게 해."
"Which base should I hit?" she asked.
"어느 베이스를 내가 쳐야 하는데?" 그녀가 물었어요.
Tom said, "Just hit that ball and run to first base!"
톰이 말했어요, "그냥 공을 쳐서 일루로 뛰어가!"
"All right," said Amelia Bedelia.
"알겠어," 아멜리아 베델리아가 말했어요.
And that is just what she did.
그리고 그것이 그녀가 해야 하는 거에요.
Jimmy scored for the Grizzlies.
지미는 그리즐리에게 점수를 따줬어요.
The team cheered. The next player struck out.
팀이 기운을 복 돋았어요. 다음 선수가 스트라이크 아웃을 했어요.
The Tornados were at bat again.
토네이도가 다시 배팅을 했어요.
The score was Tornados 2, Grizzlies 1.
점수는 토네이도 2점, 그리즐리 1점이에요.
The Grizzlies called a time-out.
그리즐리 팀이 휴식을 외쳤어요.
"Amelia Bedelia is not very good in the field," said Jimmy.
"아멜리아 베델리아는 운동장에서 잘하지 않아," 지미가 말했어요.
"She gets all mixed-up," said Tom.
"그녀는 모두 엉망으로 만들어," 톰이 말했어요.
"Maybe she could be catcher," said Bob.
"아마도 그녀는 투수를 할 수 있을 꺼야," 밥이 말했어요.
The boys turn to Amelia Bedelia.
소년들이 아멜리아 베델리아에게 돌았어요.
"You be the catcher," said Jimmy.
"너는 포수를 해," 지미가 말했어요.
"What do I do?" she asked.
"내가 무엇을 하면 돼?" 그녀가 물었어요.
"Stand behind the batter and catch the ball," said Jimmy.
"타자 뒤에 서서 공을 잡는 거야," 지미가 말했어요.
"Then throw it back to the pitcher."
"그리고 나서 투수에게 도로 던지는 거야."
So Amelia Bedelia stood behind the batter.
그래서 아멜리아 베델리아는 타자 뒤에 섰어요.
The pitcher threw the ball.
투수가 공을 던졌어요.
The batter was about to hit it. But Amelia Bedelia pushed him out of the way.
타자가 그 공을 쳤어요. 하지만 아멜리아 베델리아는 그를 자리 밖으로 밀었어요.
And Amelia Bedelia caught the ball.
그리고 아멜리아 베델리아가 공을 잡았어요.
"I got it, fellows!" she called.
"내가 했어, 소년들아!" 그녀가 말했어요.
The whole team groaned. The Tornados were very angry.
모든 팀들이 불평하는 소리를 냈어요. 토네이도 팀은 매우 화가 났어요.
"Put her someplce else," they shouted.
"그녀를 다른 곳에 갔다 놔," 그들은 외쳤어요.
"Put her way out." So the Grizzslies put Amelia Bedelia way out in the field.

The game was not going well for the Grizzlies.
시합은 그리즐리 팀에게 좋게 흘러가지 않았어요.
The score was Tornados 8, Grizzlies 5. The Grizzlies were at bat.

It was the last inning. They had two outs.
마지막 회에요. 그들은 두 아웃을 당했어요.
The bases were loaded. And Amelia Bedelia was at bat.

The Grizzlies were worried. "Please, Amelia Bedelia," they said.

Amelia Bedelia swung at the first ball. She missed.

Amelia Bedelia swung at the next ball. And oh, how she hit that ball!

"Run, Amelia Bedelia, Run!" yelled the boys.
"달려, 아멜리아 베델리아, 달려!" 소년들이 외쳤어요.
"Run to first base." And Amelia Bedelia ran.

"Tom says stealing is all right," she said,

"so I'll just steal all the bases.

I will make sure the Grizzlies win."

Amelia Bedelia scooped up first base, and second base, and third base.

"Home!" shouted the boys,
"홈!" 소년들이 외쳤어요.
"Run home, Amelia Bedelia!"
"홈으로 뛰어, 아멜리아 베델리아!"
Amelia Bedelia looked puzzled, but she did not stop running.
아멜리아 베델리아가 의아하게 쳐다봤지만 그녀는 뛰는 것을 멈추지 않았어요.
And on her way she scooped up home plate too.
그리고 그녀는 홈 판도 파냈어요.
The boys were too suprised to say a thing.
소년들은 말한 것들에 대해서 너무 놀랐어요.
Then Tom yelled, "We won! We won the game!"
톰이 외쳤어요,"우리가 이겼어! 우리가 시합을 이겼어!"
"Amelia Bedelia, came back!" shouted the boys.
"아멜리아 베델리아, 돌아와!" 소년들이 외쳤어요.
"We won!" But Amelia Bedelia was running too fast to hear.
"우리가 이겼어!" 하지만 아멜리아 베델리아는 듣기에 너무 빨리 달렸어요.
She did not stop until she reached home.
그녀는 집에 도착 할 때까지 멈추지 않았어요.
"That is a silly game," she said.
"이건 어리석은 시합이야," 그녀가 말했어요.
"Having me run all the way home!"
"나를 모든 길로 뛰어서 집으로 가게 하다니!"
Suddenly she heard a loud roar.
갑자기 그녀는 커다랗게 고함 치는 소리를 들었어요.
"Hurray! Hurray!! Hurray for Amelia Bedelia!"
"야호! 만세!! 아멜리아 베델리아 만세!"
There were the Grizzlies. "We won!
그들은 그리즐리 팀이에요. "우리가 이겼어!
The score was Grizzlies 9, Tornados 8," said Jimmy.
점수는 그리즐리 9점, 토네이도 8점 이야," 지미가 말했어요.
"You saved the game, Amelia Bedelia."
"네가 시합을 살렸어, 아멜리아 베델리아."
"I'm glad I could help you boys out," said Amelia Bedelia.

"Maybe we should keep Amelia Bedelia on our team," said Bob.

The boys laughed. "You will never learn baseball," said Tom.

"Now can we please have our bases and home plate back?"

"You sure can," said Amelia Bedelia.

Amelia Bedelia went inside. She looked at home plate.
아멜리아 베델리아는 안으로 들어갔어요. 그녀는 집 접시를 쳐다봤어요.
"Now what kind of a home would use a plate like that?" she said.
"이제 어떤 종류의 접시들을 사용할 거니?" 그녀가 말했어요.
"But it isn't polite to return an empty plate.
"하지만 빈 접시를 돌려주는 건 예의가 아니지.
I will have to do something." Amelia Bedelia looked at the cookies.
내가 무언가 줄게." 아멜리아 베델리아는 쿠키를 봤어요.
"That's it," she said.
"이거야," 그녀가 말했어요.
Amelia Bedelia piled home plate with cookies.
아멜리아 베델리아는 쿠키와 함께 접시를 쌓았어요.
"Here you are fellows," she said.
"여기 있어 소년들아," 그녀가 말했어요.
The boys quickly emptied home plate.
소년들은 재빨리 접시를 비웠어요.
"Those are not the best cookies I ever ate," said Jimmy.
"이것들은 내가 먹어본 최고의 쿠키가 아니야," 지미가 말했어요.
"Maybe Amelia Bedelia will never learn baseball," said Tom,
"아마도 아멜리아 베델리아는 절대 야구를 배우지 못할 꺼야," 톰이 말했어요.
"but she sure can cook."
"하지만 그녀는 요리는 할 수 있어."
"Hooray! For Amelia Bedelia! Hooray! For her cookies!" shouted the boys. Then the boys went home their way.
"만세! 아멜리아 베델리아를 위해! 만세! 그녀의 쿠키를 위해서!" 소년들은 외쳤어요. 그리고 그들은 각자의 집으로 돌아갔어요.
And Amelia Bedelia went in to bake. That cookie jar was empty again.
그리고 아멜리아 베델리아는 빵을 구우러 들어갔어요. 쿠키병은 또 다시 텅 비었어요.

내가 야구를 잘알아서 해석하기 쉽지 ㅋㅋ
